"Miracle Pine" For Remake

"The city of Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture, started work Wednesday on removing the tree that has come to be known as the "miracle pine" for a ¥150 million preservation project." reports the Japan Times today.

"Once part of a large forest, the pine was the only tree still standing after last year's terrible tsunami. Its roots, however, were fatally exposed to seawater."
