Tohoku Students To Attend the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake memorial

"Two middle school students from the Tohoku region who experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake will attend a memorial in Kobe on Friday for the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, to discuss the current situation in disaster-hit areas and express their gratitude to the residents of Kobe for their support."

reports the Japan News today.

"They were invited to the ceremony after a proposal made last autumn by Yoko Nakajima, a 61-year-old painter and member of the 19th anniversary organizing committee in Kobe. Nakajima became acquainted with the girls through her activities to support survivors in the Tohoku region through art."
